Assuring the health of each individual we support is paramount to our family.  Our companies employ several trained and certified nurses.  Our nurses, both LPN and RN, oversee and facilitate the health needs of the people we serve and support.  As health affects each of us, we do not take this responsibility lightly.
 
Persons served are linked to primary, medical, and dental care through Medicaid services.  For dental care not covered by Medicaid, individuals will be informed of the choices that exist for dental care and assisted in utilizing the service provider of their choice.   
 
The administration of doctor prescribed medicines and the related documentation is one of the key work responsibilities that staff must perform to serve individuals in group homes, day program facilities and off-site.  Errors in this critical area of staff performance are not tolerated. Medication error incidents are reviewed by an internal committee where discipline (up to discharge) is dispensed out independent of the ordinary supervisory process.
 
Our staff assists with prescribed medications in accordance with the order of the physician and the instructions of the pharmacist, as indicated on the individual container of medicine.  The administration of each prescribed medication is entered into the medical record of the person served and kept as part of the permanent record.  Individuals who are self-administering document that medications were taken in their medical record, which is kept as part of their permanent record.
 
In order to ensure that services are delivered at a high level of quality, nursing and administrative staff routinely conduct health assessments and monitors the administration of medications and quality of health care afforded persons served.  The results of these and all other assessments are periodically reviewed by the Manager of Organizational Excellence and governing body to ensure the health, safety, and protection of persons served.
